For many of us most holidays are a chance to relax from the daily grind and take some time off, however Valentine’s day is a bit different than those other ones. Valentine’s day can get really stressful for a lot of people, especially when you’re trying to look your best for your date. Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you, so you definitely want your Valentine to see you have beautiful white teeth and not a rotting mouth. Well, we’re here to make sure you won’t have to worry about that if you just follow our simple tips. So without further ado, here’s what you should be doing to make sure your smile looks absolutely amazing this Valentine’s day:

Makeup

Well it goes without saying that we shouldn’t put makeup on our teeth, but makeup can indeed help our women readers make their teeth look whiter. How exactly does it do that? Well using certain shades of lipstick, eye shadow, etc can make your teeth look whiter by comparison. So while it may not actually whiten your teeth, it’s a must for Valentine’s day.

Avoid Certain Foods & Drinks

We may not want to hear this, but avoiding certain foods is essential to making sure you have the best smile possible this Valentine’s day. Things such as coffee, tea, and red wine can stain your teeth which is obviously something we’d like to avoid. In addition, carbonated drinks and sweets should also be avoided, or at the very least only consumed in moderation.

At-Home Whitening

There are a multitude of options available out there when it comes to whitening your teeth at home. While it’s important to note that these at home whitening solutions should never replace your dentist, they can be very helpful in a pinch, and as such they can be invaluable if your smile isn’t as white as you’d like it before Valentine’s day. Shop for a well-reviewed and tested whitening kit, and avoid anything that sounds too good to be true.

Take a Trip to the Dentist

If none of these tips have worked for you so far and Valentine’s day is approaching fast then you might not have another choice and you may need to get a professional to help. While some at-home treatments can be effective, there’s no replacement to a proper cleansing and checkup at the dentist. An hour or so of your time seems like a trivial thing if you want that perfect smile, and you can help keep your teeth nice and healthy which certainly doesn’t hurt.

So as you can see from the tips above, there’s no sure surefire way to get a perfect smile in a short amount of time from home. Having beautiful teeth requires commitment and years of good oral hygiene, but all of these tips can certainly give you an edge and help improve the look of your teeth. If you’re someone who’s neglected their teeth for a bit longer than they should have, then you should probably look at skipping straight to a trip to the dentist and see what a difference a professional cleansing can make.
